WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG) -- A Defuniak Springs man was arrested after attempting to lure a minor for sex through text messages.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office says that on July 22 Virgil Crockett, 35, was reported for allegedly exploiting a 15-year-old female over text. An investigation into chat conversations between the two revealed Crockett had attempted multiple times to lure the victim from her home to meet him. Deputies say he also sent a nude image and video to the child asking for her to do the same.

An arrest warrant was issued and Crockett was later arrested by Okaloosa County deputies. He was extradited to the Walton County Jail Monday.

Crockett is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, transmitting harmful material to a minor, and luring a child to engage in unlawful sexual conduct.
