Dothan Schools signs contract for museum to teach art

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Dothan City Schools has awarded the Wiregrass Museum of Art a $50,000 contract.

The contract will fund weekly educational field trips for students at Hidden Lake Primary and Beverlye Intermediate schools.

Both schools are considered "A+" art schools.

Students will get to tour the gallery and have class in the museum's studio.

Communications Manager Lara Kosolapoff-Wright says the goal is “to help them learn to think creatively, no matter what they are doing in their day. Use creative problem-solving. Think of the world in new ways, get new perspectives. Learn about new cultures. Even explore different subject matter through art.”

The contract is good from September 2019 through March 2020. Students will begin visiting the museum next week.
