City approves FOG ordinance

DOTHAN, Al. (WTVY) The Dothan city commission approved its FOG ordinance back in 2015, but Tuesday they approved the Enforcement Response Guide.

FOG stands for fats, oils, and grease.

Restaurants had until July to install an appropriate grease disposal system.

They say there are around 200 places that still haven’t.

The EPA is making the city enforce the ordinance, and if restaurant owners don’t comply, they could end up in city court.

Dothan Planning Director Todd McDonald talked to the commission today about any concerns.

He says, "We provide instillation information, and about any low interest loans that might be available locally for them to be able to afford this because we understand."

Restaurant owners that need more information on what to do about getting a proper grease disposal system, should contact FOG Program Office at 615-4458.
