DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Severe weather chances didn't stop those in the Wiregrass from helping save lives.

About 20 donors showed up to the Dothan Community Blood Drive to help overcome the severe blood shortage amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Salvation Army, wiregrass United Way, and the Red Cross partnered and hosted the event.

“I decided we need to jump in. We need to do this. There is no I in team, and so I figured this is time for the community to see the Salvation Army and red cross working hand and hand,” says Salvation Army corps administrator Roy Fisher.

If you would like to donate blood but was not able to do so today, you should contact the Red Cross.
