KINSEY, Ala. (WTVY) -- Beverly Youse has worked for the House of Ruth in Dothan for 35 years.

The House of Ruth helps women who have been sexually assaulted or have faced domestic violence.

Youse is serving as the executive director, but has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer with metastasis to the bone.

Tonight many that worked with and knew her came to celebrate all of the work she has done in the Wiregrass with her.

"She's an inspiration,” Dothan House of Ruth Board of Directors Secretary Stacey Mcallister said. “She's helped many victims throughout her lifetime and she's a great leader for all of us. She inspires to do better for the entire community."

"I'm so grateful to have had a job that if I could've afforded it I would've done as a volunteer,” Dothan House of Ruth Executive Director Beverly Youse said. “I'm very very lucky to have worked 35 years and still love it to this day."
