DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — The Wiregrass Public Safety Center will soon become home to an interactive railroad training display provided by Bay Line Railroad, LLC, a subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming, Inc. The four railcar display will be featured in the 24-acre state-of-the-art center allowing police, fire, medical personnel and other first responders to be trained in the handling of emergency situations such as fires, spills or other accidents. The donation was presented at the Dothan city commission meeting on Tuesday.

The display will feature three railcars on the tracks and one railcar turned on its side to give first responders a tangible, realistic reference of what they may encounter in an emergency. With this significant contribution and partnership with Bay Line Railroad, this interactive display will become a vital tool for the center’s comprehensive approach to public safety training. It will provide an unparalleled opportunity to train across agencies and borders. The ability to replicate authentic emergency situations will create stronger relationships among first responders and increase safety in the communities they serve.
