A local game store hosted an event that raised hundreds of dollars for charity.
Fanatix, a Dothan-based gaming anime and comics outlet owned by Philip and Genie Chalker, hosted a fundraiser on April 12th, 2014 to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Gamers from Troy, Enterprise, Fort Rucker and Dothan met at the store to compete in tournaments of board games, card games, video games, and more—some of them marathon sessions that lasted until 3am in the morning!
In addition to those in the store, the Dothan Speed Runners group played classic games online in what are known as “speed runs,” where a gamer tries to beat a game in a quick amount of time. This helped bring people to the Fanatix website to raise money.
In the end, 75 participants across six events raised $450 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
