Kolomoki Mounds Welcomes New Park Ranger

By  |

BLAKELY, GA - Kolomoki Mounds' new park ranger is no stranger to Early County. For Jeff Bryant becoming the park manager was like coming full circle.

“I was an MIT here at Kolomoki Mounds for around 11 months.”

Ashton: So this is like a homecoming for you.
Jeff: It is. It is.

Bryant has been with the Georgia Park Service for two years. After training at Kolomoki, he went on to become the assistant park ranger at F.D. Roosevelt State Park in Pine Mountain, Georgia.

And now that he's back in Early County ...

“We've got a lot of new programming ideas that we're working on, some building renovations that we're hoping to work on and continue to add to the recreation side of this state park.”

The park just recently added two four-person aquacycles.

“It's kinda like a small pontoon boat. And they're actually made here in Georgia.”

They've also added more kayaks and canoes.

Park visitors can also play miniature golf, take pedal boats out on the lake and explore several nature trails.

The former park ranger, Matt Bruner, was promoted to assistant region manager over 13 state parks.
