UPDATE: GA Farm Worker Killed By Lightning Identified

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (AP) -- Sheriff's officials in south Georgia say a lightning strike has killed a man and left two others injured.

Decatur County Sheriff's officials say 21-year-old Mauselio Gomez died when he was struck by lightning Monday morning. Authorities say his 18-year-old brother and a co-worker were both injured. The extent of their injuries was not immediately clear.

The men were farm workers and were struck by lightning as they were walking along a road in Bainbridge.


One man is dead and two others are injured after they were struck by lightning this morning in Decatur County, Georgia.

According to Decatur County Sheriff Wiley Griffin, the 21-year-old farmer was struck by lightning around 10:00 a.m. at Lady Moon Farms along Cool Springs Road.

He and two other packing house employees were walking across a dirt road about 100 yards away from the shed when the lightning struck him.

The other two employees were also injured, but officials say their injuries were minor.

One of the men injured was the brother of the worker who died. Their names have not yet been released.
