UPDATE 11:30pm TUESDAY:
Earlier this week, a vehicle drove into the Cowarts Post Office.
The Cowarts Post Office has been repaired and has passed inspection.
Regular retail operations will resume tomorrow, Friday, March 6.
We appreciate our customers’ understanding during the repair process. We value our customers and want them to know that Cowarts Post Office is “back in business!”
**UPDATE as of Thursday, March 5th: For customers needing to pick up packages, please go to the Ashford Post Office only.
Tuesday, March 3rd a customer crashed her car into the front of the Cowarts, AL, Post Office at 2935 Jordan Avenue. There were no injuries to the driver or anyone in the building at the time.
According to the US Postal Service the building has structural damage and must be inspected before reopening. However, home mail delivery will not be affected. The USPS also says, "Effective today at 2 pm Central, Cowarts customers may pick up their Post Office Box mail from the Ashford Post Office at 603 N Broadway Street. They also may conduct business transactions at the retail counter at Ashford Post Office."
USPS expects the repairs to be accomplished in a few days.
