Former Troy defensive back Kamryn Melton grew up right here in the Circle City, playing his football at Dothan High. While Melton is putting in work to fulfill his dream of playing pro football, he is still making time to give back to his home town.
Melton hosted the first ever Kamryn Melton Wide Receivers vs. Defensive Backs Skills and Drills Summer Football Camp at the Dreamchasers Sports Performance and Training Facility in Dothan.
The camp is designed to bring up and coming athletes from the Wiregrass area together to not only train with, but to be able to pick the brain of a former division one football player.
Today, Melton put his campers through a series of workouts, but both he and the campers get more out of this than just doing drills.
"I'm really a role model, my mother always told me that and it really didn't kick in til my junior year of college man," said Melton. "When I came back here, everyone always wanted to work out and train with me but now its another opportunity for them to get better."
"I take it in and try to watch him do everything so one day I can be like him," said Abbeville Christian Academy junior Deaundre Newman. "I get a lot out of this its going to help me in the long run. I come here because everybody don't have this opportunity that I have so I take it in and come do what I have to do to get better."
