Chris Littleton named head coach at Florala

FLORALA, Ala. (WTVY) - The Florala Wildcats are coming off one of the most successful football seasons in recent history, but after Toby Greene left to take the Headland coaching job, the Wildcats have been in search of a new head coach.

They found their man this afternoon.

Ashford football coach Chris Littleton has been hired to lead the Wildcats program.

Littleton is coming off a two year stint with the Yellow Jackets where he led Ashford to a 6-14 overall record.

Littleton calls the decision to leave Ashford a difficult one as he felt like the Yellow Jackets were on the cusp of turning the corner.

Littleton will inherit a Florala team that finished last season with seven wins, it's most since 2007 and he's hoping to keep the train rolling in Wildcat Country.

"The expectations there, no matter who is there, are fairly high with the job Coach Greene did there last year, really turning the corner," said Littleton. "I think it is a great group. It's a great group of seniors. I think we have a great program at Florala. I'm excited about being there."

Littleton was also named the school's new athletic director.
