Since 1988, December 1st has been observed as World Aids Day.
Members of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church wore red on Sunday in support of those who have died and continue to live with HIV.
Medical Advocacy and Outreach Manager of Community Education, Neice Danzey spoke to the congregation about the importance of being educated on how serious HIV is.
"It effects so many and people don't know about it. Hiv is a virus that people can be living with and not know it. If they don't get tested they won't know" Danzey said.
"We suggest you get tested at least once a year depending on your sexual history. If you have more than one sexual partner, test every 3-6 months."
As of September 30th of this year, there were 390 confirmed new diagnosis of HIV in Alabama.
