A Wiregrass student is once again being recognized for her community service efforts.

The Henry Houston County Association awards a scholarship to one high school or postgraduate that is committed to giving back through service.

Abigail Duke, a Wallace College Community College student, and the 2019 scholarship recipient was also named the 2020 recipient.

Abigail served with the Future Leaders of the Wiregrass in high school, but she says her parent instilled those values well before then.

“My parents were a big influence in just teaching me that community is everything and that you need to focus on other people you are in one with the community. It’s not just you. It’s not just them. It’s everyone together,” says Duke.

Abigail plans to transfer to the University of Mobile to further her studies in nursing.
