Wiregrass gets ready to handle Hurricane Florence evacuees

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - It doesn’t look like Hurricane Florence will have a big impact on the Wiregrass, but some locals are getting prepared to handle evacuees.

People may be taking their RVs and campers out of the Carolinas.

They'll need places to park them for a while, and there are plenty of places offering their services right here in the Wiregrass.

Folklore Brewing and Meadery posted on their Facebook page earlier this week.

They said they have parking for 60, cold water, charging plugs and bathrooms.

The grill will be open, so travelers can get something to eat, and management says folks are welcome to stay till they close.

"You can actually come straight here and just relax,” said Folklore Manager Mandy Guess. “We're all about relaxing, so we want you to come out here and just kind of get away from the situation."

Although you can spend the day at Folklore, you can't camp out there for the night, but there is a place close-by that you can.

The Dothan Boots and Saddle Club is offering up their property for people with RVs and animals to camp out.

They will have 10 stalls available for evacuees with large animals.

There is no charge, but horses do need to be vaccinated and owners will have to show negative coggins.

The Boots and Saddle Club will also provide hook-ups for up to five RVs.

Additional RVs are welcome, they just won't have access to any hook-ups.

"Our facility's open to anyone who needs it at any time, and if anyone has any question or family that needs our services, they can call me,” said Event Coordinator/Board Member Dawn Greathouse.

The Boot and Saddle Club will be having a show this Saturday, so anyone staying there will have some entertainment while they wait out the storm.

The Coffee County Complex in New Brockton and the Heart of Dixie Trail Ride in Troy will also be open to evacuees.

If you know of evacuees looking for places to stay, here are the contacts for each of the aforementioned places:

Coffee County Complex – (334) 894-5375
Dothan Boots & Saddle Club – (334) 685-2409
