DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Wiregrass 2-1-1 received a gracious donation Thursday.

The Wiregrass Marine Corps League's charity sporting clay shoot, held in April raised $1600.

The league was on hand Thursday in Dothan at Wiregrass 2-1-1 to present the check.

The money will be used for the operating costs to keep 2-1-1 working in the Wiregrass.

"The check benefits all the community because whenever they can call we can keep the doors open,” said Mike Walton, Sr. Vice Commandant of MCL. “2-1-1 is there to help out the community. Without money, we cannot keep our doors open."

2-1-1's next event will be Sip, Celebrate and Give on June 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Grand on Foster.

This is to celebrate the 11 years of service in the Wiregrass.

The event will also be a two for one where you can donate money to 2-1-1 and that donation will be matched.
