Wiregrass Life Flight shut down
Wiregrass Life Flight has been shut down two years after opening in Dothan, but a new service will be started soon.
Wiregrass life flight was started as a partnership between Dothan's Pilcher's Ambulance Service and Air Medical Resource Group in September of 2015.
AMRG recently sold out, and the new company decided to shut down Dothan's program effective immediately.
Pilcher's and Haynes LifeFlight will join together and establish a new air ambulance service for the Wiregrass. It's expected to be in operation on September 1st.
In the meantime, Haynes LifeFlight will fill the void in the Wiregrass. It will use resources from the company’s base in troy.
Haynes LifeFlight is equipped with the ASTAR 350 B3 helicopter. Their full time medical crew consists of credentialed pilots and critical care trained nurses and paramedics.
The flying critical care unit carries advanced equipment including ventilators and advanced intubation equipment, blood products and advanced medications.
