DOTHAN, Al. (WTVY) - The quest to find some of the most talented kids in the Wiregrass culminated today.
Fifteen kids ranging from 7 years old to college freshmen were in the spotlight for the 10th annual Wiregrass Talent Quest Junior.
The talents ranged from dancing to singing, and instrumental acts. A winner from each category plus a people's choice winner receives a cash prize.
Cultural arts director Ann Cotton says the opportunities don't stop tonight. When directors of plays or other groups call asking about local talent they keep these performances in mind.
"We get to share those names with them so these kids get another opportunity to perform or go learn or be part of something bigger. They are excited because they get a chance to showcase their talent," said Cotton.
The winners were announced at the end of the night. The dance category went to the Southeast Alabama Dance Company. Markcus cooper won the vocal category. The instrumental winner is Bethany Bradshaw who played piano. People's choice award went to Isaiah Coleman, a singer.
Nearly 12,000 dollars was raised tonight that goes towards the cultural arts center.
