WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Walton County Commissioners held an emergency meeting Wednesday to address the COVID-19 virus after the first case of the virus was confirmed in the county.

Commissioners discussed how they could help stop the spread of the virus. They talked about the number of spring breakers in the county and whether to close the beach.

"I will remind you, there is a responsibility of everyone in this room, and everyone in this county, to do their part to do the right thing to protect the well-being of our citizens and our visitors," said Larry Jones, Walton County Administrator.

At the end of the meeting they decided to hold a vote on Thursday at 9 a.m. to decide if the beaches should be closed.
