DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) The Wallace Community College lineworker program received a big addition to their hands-on training on Friday morning.

Alabama Power Company donated a bucket truck to the program to help future lineman attending Wallace get more workplace experience before graduation.

Workforce Development director Joe Johnson tells us it was a "casual conversation" with David Norwood that got this donation into motion. Norwood saw how successful the program was, and went forward with the process toward acquiring and donating the bucket truck to the program.

In addition to training on how to operate a bucket truck, students will also be more experienced with additional equipment and tools they will use before graduation.

Linemen are some of the first people on the scene after disaster strikes. Fellow lineman Joel Kibler tells us that linemen are the "beginning of what makes a community whole again."

Instructor Michael Ray Evans is extremely thankful for the donation. Everyone in Wallace's lineworker program hopes this generous donation will make an already successful program become even more successful.
