DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Thursday was graduation day for several colleges across the state including Wallace Community College in Dothan.
More than one thousand students earned their degrees this semester.
Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams was honored as Wallace College’s alumnus of the year.
Thursday’s commencement speaker was Dothan native and Alabama Supreme Court Justice Brad Mendheim Jr.
Some dual enrollment students are graduating from college before graduating high school.
Graduate Hannah Waterworth said, “I plan on going back to Wallace in the fall to get my advanced and from there I will go and get my paramedic [degree]. I’m very excited about today it's definitely been quite a long ride to get here."
Wallace’s Eufaula campus will hold their commencement Friday.
