Vernon man facing multiple charges in Holmes and Washington Counties

HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) Deputies say they arrested Jachob Berry, 26, of Vernon, on Wednesday, April 1 on multiple charges in Washington and Holmes Counties.

Deputies say they responded to a call in Holmes County about a man, who was later identified as Berry, coming into his home uninvited and leaving on foot.

About 30 minutes later, deputies say they responded to another home on a call about a stolen vehicle.

The victim told deputies he walked outside and saw a man, later identified as Berry, attempting to steal his car, he said Berry drove the car toward him before he moved out of the way.

Deputies say they found the car soon after close to Highway 79 south of Bonifay, just inside Washington County.

Deputies say Berry left the car and ran away on foot.

Deputies used K-9 tracking teams to find a track. They say they found Berry and arrested him.

Berry was charged with grand theft of an automobile, aggravated assault, and trespassing in Holmes County and faces additional charges in Washington County.
