Tuscaloosa firefighter has coronavirus, 24 firefighters on paid leave
A Tuscaloosa firefighter has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue confirms one firefighter has tested positive for COVID-19. This firefighter is at home resting and on paid administrative leave.
One other firefighter who was identified as a Person Under Investigation (PUI) has received a negative test result.
Holly Whigham, the public information officer for Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue, confirms they were notified Tuesday one firefighter had a confirmed case.
Twenty-four firefighters are currently on paid administrative leave due to the positive case. No word on whether those firefighters are being tested.
Whigham would not say which fire station in Tuscaloosa was affected.
