Troy holds dedication ceremony for new recreation center
Troy ushered in a new era for student fitness this Tuesday morning.
The university held a dedication ceremony for the new recreation center that opened this semester.
The 78,000 square foot facility took two years to complete and was a student-driven project.
The student body agreed to a $100 fee each semester that has been collected for the past six years to support the construction.
"That's what's so great about Troy, is that, yes we want stuff now and we want stuff for us, but we're selfless in that,” said Troy SGA President Morgan Long. “We stuff in the future and how it can benefit future students, not just us today."
The facility is located on the corner of George Wallace Drive and University Avenue, where the former basketball arena once stood.
