DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- More than 170 Troy Trojans walked across the stage Saturday earning their degree.

Alabama Rep. Jeff Sorrells, a Troy University Dothan campus graduate who represents District 87 delivered the keynote address.

He served as the mayor for the City of Hartford from 2008 to 2018 and as a council member from 2000 to 2004.

Students have been waiting for this moment all year and today is finally their big day.

Sandy Henry Associate Dean of the Students at the Troy University of Dothan said, “When students are marching in you hear all that excitement you hear little kids saying go momma go daddy seeing me gives me goosebumps and just to hear the families support their graduate to get them to this point. So it’s just a lot of excitement. "

School officials say spring commencements are typically the larger graduations.
