PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - TripAdvisor has announced the nation's top 25 beaches and Panama City Beach is among them.

After a 12-month period of traveler reviews and ratings, our sandy white beaches made the cut and local organizations are teaming up to ensure PCB stays on top.

According to officials with TripAdvisor, Panama City Beach is ranked 11th out of the top 25 beaches in the nation, because of it's soft sand, clear waters and balmy temperatures.

To stay on top, officials with a variety of Panama City Beach organizations gathered for the 10th annual Sports and Events Workshop Wednesday to network and learn how to better serve the area.

"Being able to connect these small mom and pop stores, whether it's a restaurant or a hotel or a condo management company or anything that has to do with a tourist or the tourism community, we're giving them the tools and the resources to be the best possible business they can be within this destination," Visit Panama City Beach Public Relations Manager Catie Feeney said.

Sports, entertainment, and event companies attended the workshop to promote their services and also learn a thing or two about marketing and social media.

"About 44 percent of our visitors, the first place that they go to find travel information is through social media," Feeney said.

"I was quite surprised to hear how the use of social media has changed because I'm a little older and old school, but to find out how the linkages happen between Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube was fascinating," Vice President of the Panama City Parrothead Club Geno Redmon said.

"I really think that we can up our Instagram game and we learned a lot about that is the new and upcoming way that it is reaching the younger market," Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce Marketing and Communications Coordinator Courtney Calhoun said.

Some say it's also the perfect opportunity to build relationships.

"Any time you can put the local folks together with the people that are hosting events here in Panama City Beach it's a win, win," Owner of Grand Slam Sports Tournaments Larry Thompson, Jr. said.
