Tree dedicated to Bryce Caldwell

ENTERPRISE, Ala (WTVY) - Despite the rain, a tree dedication ceremony took place at First Baptist Church in Enterprise today for 6-year-old, Bryce Caldwell.

Bryce was diagnosed last December with DIPG, an inoperable brain stem tumor with no known cure.

The Small Steps program at First Baptist wanted to plant a tree outside the church's front doors in Bryce's honor.

Although Bryce's initial diagnosis gave him nine months to live, he has surpassed that by two months, giving the family and church continued hope.

"Their fight and everything is just so strong,” reflects Le Ann Thomas, Small Steps director. “And that's what a tree represents. The roots dig deep, so the tree can be strong. And that's exactly what their family and Bryce have done."

This past summer, the Make-a-Wish Foundation flew Bryce and his family out to Colorado to meet his favorite sports team, the Denver Broncos.
