DOTHAN, AL. (WTVY) - You may have noticed while driving around Dothan lately quite a few of those little black tubes across the roads.
The Alabama Department of Transportation recently installed traffic counters throughout the Circle City to monitor and update traffic flow.
The tubes record how busy the roads are during rush hours and also how many trucks come through the city.
City officials say traffic has grown tremendously over the years.
"The intersection of Hwy 84 West and the Ross Clark Circle has in the neighborhood of 75,000 cars every day in that intersection," said Public Works Director Charles Metzger. "There's 40,000 plus just outside the Circle on the west side of Dothan."
The counters will be around for the next couple weeks.
