Three people in Alabama died when a tornado touched down in Pickens County on Saturday.
The National Weather Service confirmed the deaths that occurred in the small town of Carrollton, 35 miles west of Tuscaloosa and near the Mississippi state line.
That brings to at least seven the number of people killed by a line of severe weather moved from the Plains into the southeast U.S. Besides the Pickens County fatalities, two others died in Louisiana and one in Texas.
Tornado watches are in effect for most of Alabama with the worst weather in the southeast part of the state expected later Saturday afternoon and through the night.
WTVY's team of meteorologists is watching this system and will be on air with live updates, if necessary.
