The Fourth of July is one of the busiest travel times of the summer

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- There are lots of events pulling visitors into the Wiregrass, and others are headed to the beach.

Happy Fourth of July! /: (MGN)

That’s causing heavy traffic on highway 231 and 431.

Since there are more cars on the road watch your speed, don't text and drive and buckle up to stay safe.

Keep in mind; you'll see more troopers and police on the roads this holiday.

"We actually increase the number of officers that are on the roadways and… they are looking for the distracted drivers, the impaired drivers and the people that are texting and driving," says Lieutenant Scott Long of Dothan Police Department.

Remember to always buckle up. If you are caught driving without a seatbelt you could get a citation.
