DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Some homeless people in the Dothan area didn't have to worry about where a meal was coming from on August 11th.
A group helped those in need with food and some basic necessities.
"Let’s go feed the homeless," said Jeremy Burnette.
That's exactly what Jeremy Burnette and some friends did. He also supplied them with a few toiletry items and flashlights
"I just want to make those people happy and just to brighten their day you'll turn a whole lot of things around from that," said Burnette.
For people like Bryan Soles who have never experienced tent city, it was an eye-opener.
"When I walked down there I kind of felt heartbroken because I really don't like seeing people like that,” said Bryan Soles. “If I can help, I will."
Soles says being able to give makes it all worth it.
"It feels pretty good to see a smile on somebody's face you know what I'm saying if they don't have that much stuff,” said Soles. “To give, it feels awesome."
Burnette says it's about the face to face connection.
"Just stop and talk to them. You never know when you can make somebody's day,” said Burnette. “You never know what these folks are going through even though some can help it some can't."
Soles and Burnette say they want to make a difference.
"We just want to make sure to let them know that we here for them and you know that we care about them," said Soles.
"I just want everybody to know this is real," said Burnette.
Burnette says he wants to give to the homeless at least once a month.
