"Teacher of the Month" awarded to retiring special education high school educator

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) Congratulations to high school teacher Mary Jackson! Jackson is April’s WTVY and “All In” Credit Union’s “Teacher of the Month”.

Jackson has been an educator for 38 years, teaching special education at Northview for 18 years. She will be retiring at the end of this year. She was nominated by a parent, whose child has Jackson as a teacher. The parent says her child is going to college, because of Jackson’s motivation, determination, patience, and kindness. She applauds Jackson for her emotional support to the students and their parents.

“I’ve always been for the underdog,” said Jackson. “I’ve always wanted to help those that needed a little extra, to let the students know we are here, that we care about them, that we want to give them those accommodations and things they need for them to be successful here, and then go out in the world and be successful. “

This is the final teacher of the month until September 2019. You can nominate your favorite teacher starting the new school year, under the contest section.
