It all started on Facebook marketplace.
Police say 18-year-old Kevone Smith of Dothan arrived at the seller's home to look at a Camaro.
He took the test drive with the owner who says smith pulled over to get a better look at the car and when they made it to the rear of the vehicle Smith ran back to driver's seat.
The owner jumped in the car through the passenger side -- and grabbed ahold of Smith.
That's when Smith hit the gas and dragged the owner for several feet.
A Houston County deputy spotted the car a short time later on 84 West in Dothan.
That deputy attempted to pull smith over, but he sped off, crashed and then ran away.
Houston County deputies and Dothan Police arrested smith.
The car's owner and police are warning people to take precautions before meeting with online buyers and sellers.
"The boy acted like he was just as good as he could be and my naive self just never saw it coming. just be careful,” says Brad Cumbie the car owner.
"If you're not comfortable go to a police department or law enforcement agency to meet up with the individual in a public setting that way you'll have someone a witness,” says Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson.
The owner of the Camaro suffered injuries to his legs, hamstrings, and groin.
He also has broken bones in his feet that he believes was caused when his foot got run over.
Kevone Smith faces a theft of property charge in Dale County.
Additional charges could be filed by Houston County and Dothan police for the chase and crash.
