"Stuff the Bus" event will provide school supplies for area students
We are approaching the halfway mark of summer break, but it's not too soon to start thinking about buying and donating school supplies.
Walmart has chosen the Salvation Army for a “Stuff the Bus" campaign.
In this one-day event, Walmart stores across the country will have a bin in front of stores to collect supplies.
Members from the Salvation Army will man the bins, and distribute the supplies to area schools.
Wiregrass Salvation Army Corps Officer, Lt. Austin Sturdivant, said this is a wonderful opportunity to help families in need.
"Lots of kids can't get the school supplies they need to start off the school year,” said Sturdivant.
“And so it's really cool to see it happening nationwide across the country," Sturdivant said.
They're looking for supplies like pencils, notebooks, loose leaf paper, crayons, markers and folders for students in grades Kindergarten to 12.
If you'd like to donate, you can drop those items off any Walmart location, on Saturday, August 3rd.
