Sleep experts say school day shouldn't start until at least 8:30a.m.

(NBC News Channel) - The country's leading sleep experts say the morning bell should ring later for middle and high school students.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine declares the school day should not begin before 8:30 a.m.

Data shows when students get enough sleep, they're more alert -- and less likely to skip -- or be late to -- school.

Delayed start times are also linked to better grades and fewer car accidents.
