Okaloosa County Sheriff's officials say the suspects, ranging in age from 17 to 27, are all facing third-degree murder charges in the shooting death of 19-year-old Cordell "Keaton" Smart. They say it started with a drug deal at a home on Oakhill Avenue in Fort Walton Beach.
They say two suspects, 16-year-olds Celeste Templin and Niriah Rudolph, went to the home of Gaige Monfils, 18, and robbed him at gunpoint then drove away with Monfils still inside the car.
Authorities say Monfils contacted Sterlin Burns, 17, and Daniel Heath, 27, about the robbery, so they got guns and went back to the Oakhill Avenue house.
They say Burns then arranged to sell marijuana to Craig Rudolph, Jr., 19, but when Rudolph got there with Shatavia Foreman, 18, and Brendon Scarver, 21, shots were fired from the house and the individuals in the car fired back.
Deputies say one of the bullets hit and killed Smart, who was there to drop off his dog. Investigators say it's not clear who fired the shot that killed Smart.
