The search to find a new director for the Ozark-Dale County Library is nearing an end.

The application process began back in June, after the former director retired.

The job was announced on Facebook, and the applications flooded in.

Since September 15th, board members have been reviewing those applications, and have narrowed their search to about 8 candidates.

And since the director is in charge of running every aspect of the library from securing grant money to materials, they don’t want to rush a decision.

“I’ve always learned that when you look for someplace new to move to, you look at the schools and you look at the libraries,” said Resource Librarian, Joni Wood.

“If the public library is amazing, it’s more apt to bring people here, and that’s what we want to do. We want to make sure that we have a library that is very deserving of our patrons and our community, and that it’s everything they want and desire,” Wood said.

Board members hope to have someone hired for the position by the end of October.
