WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG) -- Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia Counties could soon have a new way to pay their future Medical Examiner.

Tuesday, the Walton County Board of County Commissioners approved joining an Interlocal Agreement between the counties to fund the Medical Examiner's Office. The four counties share a Medical Examiner.

This agreement proposes the four counties will pay for the Medical Examiner's salary, employee salaries, benefits, and operating costs, but Santa Rosa County will administer the pay.

Escambia and Okaloosa Counties have already approved joining the Interlocal Agreement. Santa Rosa is expected to do so in the coming weeks.
