State Representative Paul Lee (R-Dothan) will serve as vice-chair of the powerful Alabama House of Representatives Rules Committee.
“I’m honored to have been selected as vice-chair of Rules. It’s a very important assignment that gives me a wonderful opportunity to serve the people of Alabama and I’m thankful to (House) Speaker Mac McCutheon for his confidence in appointing me,” Lee told WTVY.
Lee has served on several committees since he first won election to the House in 2010, including Ways and Means. But Rules is his most prestigious appointment.
The committee decides agendas for the House, which often determines the fate of legislation. Rep. Mike Jones (R-Andalusia) will remain chairman.
McCutcheon also reappointed several committee chairs including Rep. Steve Clouse (R-Ozark) to head Ways and Means and Rep. Bill Poole (R-Tuscaloosa) as chair of the House Ways and Means Education committee.
Lawmakers will have an organizational session in January. Their regular session starts in March.
