Renowned civil rights attorney awarded key to city of Dothan
A renowned civil rights attorney now holds a key to our city.
Ben Crump was presented the honor at the 7th annual Fashion Week Dothan show as the keynote speaker.
Crump has worked on many high-profile civil rights cases such as the murder of Trayvon Martin.
After speaking to the crowd, Crump was awarded a key to the city by mayor Mark Saliba.
The fashion show put a spotlight on single parents this year.
Crump, who grew up in a single parent household realizes the importance of recognizing single mothers and fathers.
“I’m here to talk about how to help their children beat the odds, not become part of the school-to-prison pipeline that is so prevalent in minority communities," Crump said.
Crump also helped present the LVEC Veteran’s Award, which is given out yearly at the Fashion Week Dothan show.
