Poplar Head Farmers Market opens up for the summer

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Fresh produce from Wiregrass farmers will be ready for purchase at the Dothan Civic Center.

The annual Poplar Head Farmers Market opened this morning.

This season's market will feature state certified farmers with fresh eggs, herbs, vegetables, fruit and baked goods.

For farmers, the market is a chance to quickly boost their sales for the summer.

"It doubles my business,” said Avalon Farms Farmer Wendy Robbins. “More than doubles my business. I'm in an online market that goes year-round, so that's my primary source, but during the summer this literally doubles if not triples my business"

The market will be open every Saturday in June and July from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Dothan Civic Center parking lot.
