Police arrest man charged in son's hot car death for public intoxication
Dothan police say they found a man charged in the death of his young son so drunk he had to use a bush to maintain his balance.
Officers arrested Robert Patrick King Friday night on a misdemeanor charge of Public Intoxication.
A police report states that King, who admitted consuming alcohol, walked to store where he purchased two cans of Four Loco, marketed as a premium energy malt beverage.
Officers found King balancing himself by “hanging on” to a bush on the side of road near his home, police claim.
King and his wife, Melinda, already face manslaughter charges for the June 29 death of their two year old son, Castiel.
Investigators say, while they slept at home, the toddler walked out of the house and climbed in their car.
Four hours later, he had been overcome by extreme heat and died.
The King's also face drug charges. Police say they found nearly two pounds of marijuana in their home.
