Dothan, AL (WTVY)-- Those playing in an adult kickball league had to abandon their game Thursday night after the firing of several shots in their direction.

“We heard three to five shots and could even hear bullets whizzing near us,” said one player as he departed Colby-Bottoms Field.

The shots may have been fired from the wood line on the east side of nearby Rip Hewes Stadium parking lot. Officers searched nearby railroad tracks but didn't immediately locate the person who fired those shots.

Police, out of an abundance of caution, ordered several dozen kickball players to leave.

There were no injuries.
