Pilot in stable condition after crash on Eglin Air Force Base

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (WJHG) -- An F-35A Lighting II assigned to the 58th Fighter Squadron crashed upon landing at Eglin Air Force Base late Tuesday evening.

Officials say the crash happened at around 9:30 p.m. The pilot, who had been participating in routine night training, successfully ejected from the plane and was transported to the hospital on the base. Officials say he is in stable condition. The pilot's name has not yet been released.

The crash is currently under investigation.

Just a week before on May 15, another pilot was forced to eject during a crash in a training mission.
