Each year, during the week of May 15th fallen police officers around the country are remembered and honored.

This all began in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Thursday morning, the city of Ozark honored the three fallen police officers from throughout their history

But they also paid tribute to all the current officers who risk their lives daily.

"When you put on the badge, you take the oath to serve and protect," said Ozark Chief of Police Marlos Walker. "That encompasses so many things. One of the things we do is lay our lives down on the line to protect citizens, protect other officers, just protect people throughout this community."

Many of the area law enforcement officers, city, and county leaders were in attendance Thursday morning praying for all who wear the uniform.
