Local organization receives $100,000 donation

DOTHAN Ala.(WTVY)- The ark is constantly helping men and women get the help they need by changing lives through Christ.

Ark Director Jeff Peacock said, “We do what we do because we're mandated in Mathew 25 to love the least of these people who are hurting people who have gone through bad situations those that are poor those that are in prison."

They offer a variety of services such as the food bank, sack meal program, transitional housing and more.

For one ma he was struggling with an addiction

The ark has helped him overcome that battle.

Assistant Resident Director James Akins said, “I came to the ark out of prison with a drug addiction still on my back and the ark showed me a way through Christ that my life can change exponentially.”

Alan Munford has also benefited from the program so much so he knows holds a leadership position and is working to help others.

Resident Director Alan Munford said, “I have a story if I could just help one I’ll be satisfied I use my experience to help others while I’m at the ark so to be in this position it helps me achieve that goal."

The new grant will be used to build 21 new transitional apartments to house men.

"Right now we're at capacity at 40 men and so we're having to turn men away so this army aviation grant really comes right on time."

The Ark wants to expand even more and hopes this is the just the first of many future projects.

The new housing is scheduled to be completed in four months.
