New bus route will help those stranded downtown without transportation

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — A new transportation initiative will begin next week in Dothan, but only on a trial basis.

The Wiregrass Transit Authority will designate two days of the week for those who are homeless and poverty stricken.

The Harbor Church on North Foster Street will now serve as a pick up and drop off point.
The route will run on Mondays and Thursdays.

It will do a loop to local hospitals, clinics, the social security office and the Career Center.

The Harbor's Executive Director, Kody Kirchhoff, says living downtown without reliable transportation makes it almost impossible for some people to get where they need to go.
