National Weather Service debates ending advisories
The National Weather Service is seeking public input on a project aimed at simplifying weather alerts.
The NWS is asking for public comments through August 21.
Under the proposed plan, the weather service would do away with what are called advisories.
According to surveys, these warnings about less severe weather conditions are causing confusion.
Also, the service is looking to clear up the difference between "watches" and "warnings."
Selected comments from the public will be presented to NWS leadership in September and if any changes are made will be implemneted next year.
