Moma Tina's celebrates 13 years knocking out hunger

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) One Wiregrass organization is celebrating thirteen years of knocking out hunger in their current location.

Mama Tina’s Mission House hosted their annual cookout, which was open to the public.

The cookout featured two contests--the grill masters competition and a bake-off.

Contestants battled it out to prove they had the best barbecue and best baked goods.

One of the main goals for the mission house is creating a safe, strong community--especially for children.

Bouncy houses, horseback rides, games and music were set up for youth in addition to the food and contests.

"My true passion, is those kids in the park," says Tina Glasow, aka Moma Tina, "as long as them kids are happy, I'm happy."

Although Moma Tina's Mission House on Alice Street has been in operation for the past 13 years, Glasgow herself has been serving those in need for 19 years.

All of the proceeds raised today will go to Mama Tina's Mission House so that they can continue feeding and hosting events for the community.
