Midland City man wanted in Florida assault captured in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) -- A suspect wanted by Florida authorities has been arrested after a multiagency pursuit.

According to Montgomery County Col. John Briggs, Joel Christopher Martin, 55, of Midland City, AL, was wanted in connection to an assault with a deadly weapon in Florida. He was pursued by Pike County and Crenshaw County deputies earlier Sunday, then he was spotted by Montgomery County deputies.

Briggs said deputies were able to spike his car and take Martin into custody on Hobbie Road near Old Hayneville. There were no injuries and no damage to any vehicles except the suspect’s vehicle.

Martin was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility for processing.
